Workshop Title: Practical Watershed Management Solutions for Saving Nature
Venue: Amphitheater of the Faculties of Natural Resources and Agriculture, Lorestan University
In collaboration with the Lorestan University Growth Center
Dr. Alireza Sepehvand, a faculty member of the Rangeland and Watershed Management Engineering Department, Faculty of Natural Resources, stated in this workshop that the importance of watershed management, based on scientific and practical experiences, can be considered as a practical and effective approach to saving and protecting natural resources.
He emphasized that watershed management is not merely a set of technical operations, but a comprehensive approach to sustainable water and soil management that requires the active participation of scientific centers, executive bodies, and local communities.
Furthermore, while introducing basic concepts, practical and implementable solutions in real-world conditions were examined, and examples of successful watershed management projects were presented to enhance the practical understanding of the participants. In addition, the challenges in implementing watershed management projects, including budgetary constraints, weak public participation, and the need for continuous training, were discussed.
In conclusion, he noted that in the current situation and considering the country's climatic conditions, the most effective and efficient solution to combat floods and reduce the effects of recent droughts is the principled and accurate implementation of watershed management solutions. He reminded that achieving this requires utilizing the scientific capacities of university centers and the support and cooperation of the country's executive officials.
